I was a little too old for the Transformers when they first came out. So I didn’t really have any of the action figures or watch the show. But this movie was great. It’s a CGIfest packed with action.
It’s also (for the most part) a bottomless pit as far as sequels go. And yes, of course, they left this on wide open for the first sequel.
There may be some of the Transformers “purists” that don’t like some of the deviations from the original storyline (I’ve already heard people talking about Bumblebee being a Camaro rather than a VW Bug).
To them (just like every other comic book die hard when a new Spidey, Superman, Batman movie comes out) I say relax – it may not be “the original” but it’s still entertaining and exposing itself to a whole new audience.
To those of you that were into The Transformers as a child that now have children – my guess is you will enjoy this more than anyone.
I have a 6 (soon to be 7) yr old son and a 4 yr old daughter (she’ll be 5 in October.) I will take him to see this movie – but not her. It’s a little TOO loud and possibly a little too shocking (violent imagery) for her to take. Take that for what it’s worth when considering if this movie is age appropriate.
Biggest selling point to me of this movie? The fact that there are a myriad of cars and trucks in this movie (especially the Camano) and not a single Mustang anywhere in sight.
There may be some goofy dialog in this (as is the same with most action movies) but I’d give it an over all solid 3 stars out of 4.
