Happy Mother's Day

This is the first Mother’s Day since my mother passed away.

It’s weird. Normally I wake up early, let my wife sleep and (even with the three hour difference between the East and West coasts) I would call my mother to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day.

This morning, after setting my kids up with some chocolate milk and Dora the Explorer, I poured a cup of coffee and found myself reaching for my cell phone to call my mother.

Interesting how the mind and heart allows us to do certain things, allows us to “forget” certain things and allow us to ignore certain things. In my case, this morning, I think it’s the later. I think my mind and heart just ignored the fact that my mother has gone.

I find myself doing things like that quite frequently actually. Take for instance my drive home from work. It normally takes me a minimum of an hour to drive home each day.

Each day I would walk out of the office, get in my car and phone my wife to let her know I am on my way and to see if she needs (me to pick up) anything on my way home.  Somewhere in the next 5 minutes or so I’d be on the freeway and on my way. Within a minute or so (almost as if she knew I was on the freeway) my mother would call. If she didn’t, I would call her.  Now, without fail, I reach for my cell after I get on the freeway to call my mother and I have to remind myself silently of what I am doing. I wonder when that will stop.

Either way, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. Most especially to my wife, the mother of my children. The three people that have helped me to continually move forward since my mother’s passing.

. . . . . .and, of course, Happy Mother’s Day to you, Mom. I miss you every single day of my life. Everyone who knew you does.

A picture of my brother’s most recent tattoo.

My mother didn’t think she photographed that well

(which is where I think I get it from)

but she loved this picture.

This is some of the best portrait

and black work I have ever seen.

Yeah, um WHAT!?

I have NO idea what’s going on here. But, I can’t stop watching it or laughing.

I am pretty sure I saw Plankton from SpongeBob SquarePants. This is a cross between some crazy German health and fitness show and a really wacky Ron Popeil Infomercial.

The Happiest Place on, , , , , , the Web????

I have this friend, let’s call him, Paul.

Paul and his family are what you would call Disney Fans. If there is a Disney park near them (World, Land or Euro) they’re going.

For one thing, this is awesome since, Paul has a little girl and like most little girls she’s a Disney Princess devotee.

I came across a simulator on the web that may be right up Paul’s alley.

Now Paul can experience Disney from the other side.  By clicking any of the images a new window will open and you will be presented with the opportunity to control one of four attractions at Disney (The Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain or Phantom Manor) to include ride maintenance, crowd control and the ride itself.

Anyway, enjoy your simulated trip to Disney, Paul.

Bohemian Borat???

As seen in both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter - Sacha Baron Cohen has been tagged as the front runner to play Queen front man Freddy Mercury.

It’s been rumored in the past that he (Cohen) created his Borat character’s overall “look” on Mercury (Nice).

According to a British paper (The Daily Mirror), there was another person looking to play the role that Cohen nabbed. Who was that person? Non other than Captain Jack himself, Johnny Depp. Not bad company at all to be associated with.

Also stated in The Daily Mirror: ”They [Filmmakers] are working flat out to get the best possible script. Sacha loves the idea he can get away with playing Freddie after modeling Borat’s look on him.”
