Because it needs to be done

Speaking for everyone here on the myITforum BLOG community – THANKS RON  for all you hard work on the new skins.

Just another testament to the fact that the folks around here do because they want to do and not because they have to do

How to Support the Troops

How to Support the Troops

While I do have a small MIA/POW ribbon on my car – this will be how I support current era Vets from now on.

I will continue to give to the DAV and to The U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home (formerly The Old Soldiers Home) – but for now – this is where what I can afford to do will go.

The Human Highlight Film

Well, a 37 – 0 record is now 37 – 1 after Thomas Damgaard ran into The THUNDER Arturo Gatti last night in Atlantic City.

The TKO was delivered in the 11th round last night by Gatti’s oft bothersome right hand. In fact last night that right hand was bothering him since early in the 4th round but Gatti just kept pounding away.

When Gatti delivered the final blow (squarely) to Damgaard’s chin, his (Damgaard’s)legs went out, his eyes rolled and he was on Queer Street.

In stepped the ref (Lindsey Page Jr.), up went Gatti’s hands, ding went the bell and around Gatti’s waist went the belt.

I consider Gatti to be the picture of an old school “Prize Fighter” he takes the shots from his opponents, he keeps pounding away and he gets the crowd on their feet. Not to mention that almost every one of his fights ends with some kind of excitement or unexpected twist.

What a great fighter to watch.

SURPRISE - Kerry will try Alito filibuster

CNN.com - Kerry will try Alito filibuster - Jan 26, 2006.

What a surprise – I’m sure it’s not sour grapes over losing the election at all – since we all know Kerry was SO involved in the Senate before the election.

Normally you get charged for calling 411(something like a dollar on your cell phone and varying prices at home).

Program 1-800-373-3411 (1-800-FREE-411) into your cell phone or Speed Dial at home.

This is a 100% Free of Charge 411 service.  They also have a Connect for Free option (if call volume is not high at the time of call)

Close but NO CIGAR - - - AGAIN!!!

I had a discussion with a few friends about the playoffs and this year's Super Bowl - -some of them seemed to think this year was Manning's (Peyton) year for a ring. Some may call me a skeptic, some just pessimistic, I like to think of it as TRUTHFUL.

Manning is WAY too self important and self absorbed. I do not care how much of a "student of the game" he is, he will NEVER be the leader of a championship team until sheds those aspects of his character.

The calling out of his offensive line this weekend is just one of many times that Manning has taken his team mates to task in a manner in which should never have happened. He is entitled to be upset, he is entitled to talk to (even yell at) his receivers or backs or even line) when the time is right/appropriate.

The time is NOT appropriate on the sidelines or field while the game is going on - THAT is (one of) the job(s) of the coaching staff - not the quarterback I don't care if your name is Manning, Favre, Brady or McNabb.

Ironically - you'll not see a Favre, Brady or McNabb whine and moan at their teammates like Manning does. Again I say - until Manning dumps that self important side of his personality he will never be a great leader let alone a Champion.

Manning has been to put up to be this football icon and I say BAH! Sure, he can play and he has talent - but that is not EVERYTHING when you are playing a TEAM sport - -you have to work WITH a cohesive unit on the playing field - - not treat everyone as your subordinate.

I still say he can't do it. He can't let go of that part of his personality and he will (I've said it before) go down in the books (and most likely the Hall of Fame) as a Quarterback with a career FULL of records and stats but NO Super Bowl Jewelry. Manning IS Dan Marino Jr. where that is concerned.

Justice is Justice No Mattter Where You Are In The World

So, I just got back from a trip to Virginia.

I was visiting a friend of mine I was stationed with in Hawaii. This trip has become an annual trip for the last three years – it coincides with his return from Iraq after each (year long) tour and is usually a few months before he returns ( for another year). Of course – he will be going back for ANOTHER year around late September early October.

Anyway – the point of my story (JUSTICE) is this – He was telling me about a convoy he was rolling in from Kuwait (picking up equipment) into a certain area in Iraq.

Along the way the convoy approached a large intersection – break for description of the convoy –

The convoy consisted of two STRYKERS (see image below) on the left and right in the front – a HET (Heavy Equipment Transport) followed by another HET and a few HUMMWVs (those are HUMVEEs to you non military types :o) ) and other misc vehicles and another two STRYKERS on the left and right in the rear.

So, as the convoy approached the intersection, the front two STRYKERs stopped on the wide corners of the intersection to block traffic and allow the HETS (and the rest of the convoy) to turn left. As the STRYKERS broke wide and the first HET began to turn left a civilian sedan broke through, rammed into the lead HET and exploded.

The driver and shotgun passenger of the HET were killed on impact. But, by some miraculous turn the piece of garbage that drove the sedan lived. He got out of the car and started running.

Since they were approaching the Kuwaiti border they were being escorted (way behind) by Kuwaiti police. The Kuwaiti police broke convoy and gave chase to the dirt bag. This all happened on a Monday morning.

From Monday morning to (and through) Wednesday afternoon – the Kuwaiti police and judicial system (whatever they may call it over there) Caught, Tried and EXECUTED this piece of garbage.

No muss, no fuss – DONE 1, 2, 3. THIS my friends is the way JUSTICE should be adjudicated ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Always forward Jerry – stay safe and STAY ARMY, Brother!

Is There A Coach In The House?

Ok, so between Martz (ST. Louis), Sherman (Green Bay), Haslett (New Orleans), Capers (Houston) and Tice (Minnesota) being fired – – – are there any coaches LEFT  with the job they started with this year in the NFL?

Set aside how CRAPPY a year my Eagles had - - — this may have been the worst overall year for the NFL that I can remember.

Granted – The Seahawks had a good year - - –  — and lord KNOWS the friggin Bengals showed up to play football this year. The Pats had a decent year considering all the injuries they had passing the half way point of the season – - -and thank GOD the Colts didn’t go un defeated – – I wouldn’t be able to stomach the bandwagon jumping and and arse kissing that would have gone Peyton Mannings way is they had.

I am so sick of hearing about Manning ( and his little brother for that matter) he has been the “second coming” for a few years now and has NOTHING to show for it. I will venture a wager and say he will end his career another Marino - — which is to say a book FULL of records (some impressive – most not) and NO JEWELRY to show for it – - that’s right – – -Manning gets NO checks in the WIN column where the Super Bowl is concerned..
