TechED 2009 conference in LA is afoot

This is my first TechED conference and LA is a great city to visit.  I arrived yesterday and registered for the conference.  The location is well suited for this event with plenty of room.

I started the day yesterday listening to some certification sessions.  I am no stranger to sessions like these since at the Ottawa Windows Server User Group, we have hosted several meetings where certification was discussed.  In addition, we also host certification study groups as a value add to our members.

A Sharepoint certification study group is currently nearing completion in Ottawa as we speak.

Having people attend sessions like these where why there is value in certification is discussed is always refreshing.  Sometimes, in our professional careers, we lose sight of ways to increase our value both at a personal level and as an asset within an organization.

I also took some time to attend an MVP breakout session where people of like minds discussed things like the new RC release of Windows 7, Hyper-V R2 virtualization, etc…

TechED is a fantastic event to come out and connect with your peers and hear about challenges that other people of like minds are facing while learning about what is new and witnessing Microsoft’s direction with all of the new technologies that are being released.

Today, I will digest some more technical content.  In particular, I am following the following technologies:

  • Hyper-V virtualization
  • System Center
  • Server Management
  • Security
  • SQL

I will post again as the conference unfolds and I have some input on the sessions.
