Announcing Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007

System Center Operations Manager 2007 lets you easily monitor your IT services, reliably scales across your organization and environment, and includes the Microsoft application and operating system (OS) knowledge you need to rapidly resolve your operational problems.

With this new release, Operations Manager will:

 - Proactively manages business critical IT services including applications, the supporting infrastructure and hardware, and end user clients.

 - Reduce the complexities of managing your IT environment by providing a monitoring solution that is designed with ease of use in mind.

 - Provide a highly reliable infrastructure by leveraging Windows Server and SQL Server 2005 clustering for high availability and through agents that automatically failover to a secondary management server if connectivity to the primary is lost

 - Include management packs with prescriptive knowledge developed by the application and OS development teams at Microsoft and verified in production deployments to improve monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for more than 50 Microsoft applications and Windows server components.

Small Mistake
Hi,

Sorry if any of you were having problems with the 'Installing MOM Reporting 2005 on SQL 2005 post. There was a slight typo (mis instead of msi).

What can I say, I have fat fingers lol.

All corrected now.

Installing MOM 2005 and MOM Reporting on SQL 2005
Eh up,

OK, I have now completed this and have figured out the procedure.

Firstly, you will need the SP1 slipstream copy of MOM 2005.

 - Install SQL 2005 and Reporting Services 2005

 - Install MOM 2005, no issues here

 - Apply the 2 MOM hotfixes (KB913801 and KB913812)

 - Install MOM Reporting using the following run command:
       msiexec /i <path>\MOMReporting.msi PREREQ_COMPLETED=1

 - IMPORTANT - At the virtual directory selection screen in the MOM Reporting setup, uncheck the automatic box and enter 'ReportServer' in the 1st box and 'Reports' in the second (by default). You will then be able to continue on through the setup.

 - Install the final hotfix (KB915785)

Hope this helps,

Andy
