  • If you are going to MMS next week....

Since I lived in San Diego for over 3 years I've been asked by quite a few people "What is the one thing I have to do before I leave?”

Easy answer as its just two words:

    Fish Taco

San Diego is famous for Fish Tacos. Trust me you will like it! Just stay away from Rubio's since they are more of a chain. Anywhere you go in Old Town ($10-$15 taxi from downtown) will do them right and really that’s the best place to go for Mexican.

  • 1E will have a HOL at MMS this year!

    Greetings,

Just a note for next week we (1E) will have a Hands on Lab at the MMS for people to sit down and try out several of our tools first hand. Some of the things they will be able to do:

    • Understand how Shopping is architected and functions. Complete common tasks such as configuring SMS Packages to be shopped for via a web page.
    • See how users request applications via Shopping and how approvals send notifications to different managers. Understand the integration with the Policy Refresh and Wake On Lan functionality of SMSWakeUp.
    • Use the new Agility Framework Reporting engine of 1E to track energy usage and trend data across the enterprise
    • Proactively monitor desktops for different events with DeskMon.

We look forward to letting people kick the tires next week!

  • Shopping 2.5 from 1E released

We have now just released a new version of Shopping: http://www.1e.com/SoftwareProducts/Shopping/Index.aspx

The new technical features are bellow with the full feature list on the website:  http://www.1e.com/SoftwareProducts/Shopping/Features.aspx

Re-installation of Applications after rebuild – re-install your previous applications after rebuilding your machine

Copying Configuration from another machine – as it says on the tin

Shop for another machine – local administrator can use Shopping to shop for other users

Uninstalling Applications from a machine – a local administrator can request for applications to be uninstalled, freeing up unused licenses

SMS Unique Id and Site Retrieval from machine – additional method for retrieving machine information using a dynamically loaded activex control

Computer Category (Location) based Approval and Management – administer machines by AD group

Scheduling (Delivery Windows) – users can define windows when software delivery should occur (this will also depend on time taken to approve and the responsiveness of your SMS infrastructure)

Notification (SMS Advert status) – users get email notification when the SMS status messages are received

Deleting Applications – can remove an application from Shopping application

API – a very simple API for Approve Item, Reject Item and Status Notification only

This is a very powerful tool for empowering the user community. An evaluation download is available on the website along with the technical installation and administrative guides.
