  • WSUS/ITMU - What's it all about!?

OK here's a quick overview of ITMU - or the Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates to give it it's full name. This is the SMS version of WSUS and it's another step towards simplified patch management..

Still in Beta so things can change, but here's a quick overview of what it's supposed to deliver.

Separate install - just like the other scan tools

Uses the Windows Update Agent to install Patches. You can distribute this via SMS (included with the install)

    Uses the Windows Update Catalog

You need Windows Installer 3.0 (or 3.1) to install office patches..

You need some hotfixes - some client, some server (extra status messages etc)

It fills in the command line for you when you create MU packages. Hurrah!

Can download patches in multiple languages

    Should be available soon!
